
| The Championship rules reflect the sports determination to ensure fair
play and competitive racing within a safe environment whilst broadening
appeal and encouraging new entrants. Supported by teams and manufacturers
they provide a framework for controlling costs whilst creating the ideal
environment for the marine industry to develop and demonstrate the
performance of its products. Powerboat manufacturers involved in the 2007
season include Fabio Buzzi, Chaudron, Cigarette, Donzi, Dragon
Powerboats, Formula, Fountain, Hustler, MetaMarine, Outerlimits and
Sunseeker.
Engine manufacturers involved in the 2007 season include
Cummings, Ilmor, Isotta Franschini, Mercury, Seatek, Sterling and Yanmar |

Here are some points of interest:
- A racing crew comprises a maximum of 3 pilots.
- There are two boat categories, SuperSport (standard production) and
Evolution (prototype). Both race together to enhance the sporting
spectacle.
- A Grand Prix comprises two weekend races; a 'Rally' of no less than
50 nautical miles in distance and an 'Endurance' of no less than 80.
- The circuits are specially designed, usually close to the shoreline,
for the benefit of the large crowds.
- Championship and Grand Prix points are awarded to the first 8
finishers in each class.
- There are team, constructor and engine manufacturer world
championship titles.
- Strict power to weight ratios help to maintain the competitive close
racing.
